Firecracker Ball aims to hit £2m mark at this year’s event

One of the standout charity events in the Yorkshire calendar, the Firecracker Ball, is aiming to reach a target of £2m raised for Barnardo’s since it became its chosen charity in 2002.

The total raised to date is just short of £1.7m, so it needs to attract a record £300,000 plus at this year’s ball, which is within reach having raised £210,000 last year.

To help achieve this significant sum the Firecracker Ball committee is actively seeking support from individuals and businesses in the region who are interested in sponsorship packages, table bookings or donating auction or other prizes for the charity.

The prestigious black tie event is taking place on Saturday 14 November and, as in previous years, will be held at Rudding Park Hotel in Harrogate.

This year’s theme is ‘Once Upon a Time’ and guests will be transported to a world of make believe as they enter the bespoke marquee attached to the hotel which will be transformed to a land of fairy tales.

The committee will soon be announcing a huge headline act and other surprises for the hundreds of guests at the black tie event, including high profile celebrity appearances and ‘money can’t buy’ auction prizes.

So far 610 people have booked to come to the Firecracker Ball and only ten tables now remain. The committee are therefore urging people to book as soon as possible to ensure ‘they can go the ball’.

Kirsty Guy, relationship manager, from Barnardo’s said: “The Firecracker Ball is a fabulous opportunity to host clients or friends at a truly memorable event. It’s a must for Yorkshire’s leading corporate businesses and entrepreneurs, with many companies and individuals returning year on year.

“The funds raised are helping to make sure Barnardo’s centres across Yorkshire can continue to offer services that are in strong demand by the local community, including a holiday club for children with complex health needs such as physical disabilities, life limiting conditions and learning disabilities.

“It is a tall order to raise more than £300,000 this year but with the generosity of companies and individuals in Yorkshire it is not beyond the realms of possibility.”

The direct beneficiaries of this year’s fundraising will soon be announced, with Barnardo’s Young Carers services across the region being last year’s beneficiary.
