The Firecracker Ball, which last year raised an astonishing £270,000 for Barnardo’s, has revealed both its theme and big name performer for 2018.
The annual event, which will take place at Rudding Park Hotel on Saturday 10th November, will have a spectacular Brazilian Carnival theme and will see pop sensation, Sophie Ellis-Bextor keeping the party going well into the night.
Ellis-Bextor, whose biggest hits include ‘Murder on the Dance Floor’ and ‘GrooveJet (if this ain’t love)’, said: “I’m excited to be performing at The Firecracker Ball, which everyone knows raises a significant amount of money for Barnardo’s every year. It’s a fantastic event and I feel privileged to have been asked. And as for this year’s Carnival theme, I’ll definitely make sure my performance ensures it lives up to it.”
Barnardo's vice president and chair of the Firecracker Ball committee, Phil Taylor, said: “We’re thrilled to have Sophie joining us for this year’s Firecracker Ball celebrations. I’m sure her presence, combined with the carnival theme and the magical way our team will bring it to life for our guests, will ensure this year will be our biggest and best ever.
Leeds based firm Evans Property Group retains lead sponsorship of the event, with UBS as co-sponsors. Source Marketing Communications, Phillip Stoner the Jeweller, and Team Print Services have also confirmed their sponsorship again.
Now in its seventeenth year supporting Barnardo’s, the prestigious event which raises considerable funds for causes across Yorkshire will be hosted by author and former presenter for both BBC and ITV, Jon Hammond. Organisers will soon be announcing a host of other surprises for the hundreds of guests at the black tie event, including high profile celebrities and ‘money can’t buy’ auction prizes.
Phil continued: “The Firecracker Ball is a fabulous opportunity to host clients or friends at a truly memorable event. It’s a must for Yorkshire’s leading corporate businesses and entrepreneurs, with companies and individuals returning year on year.”
Kirsty Guy, senior relationship manager, from Barnardo’s said: “The funds raised from the Firecracker Ball are helping to make sure that Barnardo’s across Yorkshire can continue to offer services to help children flourish, help keep families strong, and help communities to protect and nurture their young people.”
As one of the standout charity events in the Yorkshire social calendar, funds raised from The Firecracker Ball help to change the lives of thousands of children and young people across the region. Since Barnardo’s became its chosen charity in 2002 the ball has raised over £2.5m for Barnardo’s causes.
